Three Poems
by Danny Barbare
Peanut Butter Wafers
Home
is
an
open
bag
love
is
sweet
and
crisp
always
a
reminder
like
a
crumb
on
the
lip.
Slices of Apples
Slices of apples, close as a plastic bag
till soon autumn is on the
ridge
a peck, a bushel
an orchard
busy as a bumble
bee
till the jug of cider
is empty
the dust of
the gravel road has settled
and the mountains are in the refrigerator.
A Cookie
Like
an
open
wrapper
home
is
a
cookie
crisp
and
sweet.
