Three Poems

by Walter Skinner

• third • stone • incantations

dissolving dreams

of dali inside

a swaying ship,

cracked phone dangles

like a spoon inside

my mouth,

bulletism:

thumbs splatter

keyboard canvases

• spiritus

• vehicles

• wasteland

• melchizedek

• metamorphosis

• 10,000 lives

I am yeats

dali’s brother:

teetering

• death

•

•genius

• pages

• petrify

• clocks

a number 12. pencil

cracked, taped,

no eraser

invents

Chikara Roja:

the karmic elixir

• leo’s tail

• stromato flakes

• almond of aaron

compacts shattered

mundi into

*

solana

my foot lands

on the second floor

of the gym,

the cardio carpet is

crowded with sweaty

dreams of summer

your glow of

xochiquetzal ascends

mechanical stairs

the muse whispers

lulls like sirens

over 808’s

i cross seven

valleys of equipment

a radiant jamais vu

coxen hole: may 2023

burnt men swarm rusted gates

shouting iguana meat and taxi rides

suffocating shops whisper

like ghosts in open tombs

skeletal dogs sniff worn

shoes of toothless peddlers

zip lines secure laughing bodies

fattened from the Windjammer buffet

fish-eyed children extend homemade

bracelets on gaunt fingers

a young girl sweeps bottle shards

dreaming of mermaid scales

day drums usher in the flock

night drums mourn their own

a month without a cruise

another rib is born

a ship is an apple core

next to an anthill

an island bound by tips

photos deleted from a phone
